The Sweet Briar Vixens finally added a win to their record today
by beating Wilson College 4-2. This is the first
win of the season for the Vixens who are now 1-6, in addition to
this game being the first collegiate win for head coach
Jess Lamina. “It was a very special day for the team; it was
the perfect way to end a very important weekend on campus. It is
nice to have a home on Thayer Field. We hope that we will live up
to the expectations of the Thayer family of whom the field was
recently dedicated," said coach Lamina.
The Vixens took 40 shots, and put 33 on goal; of the 33 on goal,
the Vixen's were able to capitalize on four. Leading the
attack today was junior midfielder Lindsay Eneguess (Peterborough,
N.H.) who walked away from the win by scoring two goals and
assisting on another. Adding to the scoring effort was senior
Melissa Carron (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) and sophomore Alexandra
St. Pierre (So.Hamilton, Mass.) who each tallied a goal and an
assist. Also making waves on the attacking end was junior Alicia
Modzelewski (Virginia Beach, Va.) who took seven shots and dished
out one assist.
On the defensive side of the field the Vixens were led by first
year back Julie Dopheide (Glen Mills, Penn.) who had three
defensive saves. Julie was reading the field well, filling in
passing lanes, and denying would be attackers shots as well as
goals.
The Vixens are back in action on Tuesday the 29th at Bridgewater
College at 4:30.
