Vixen Tennis at Bridgewater College

Box Score

The Vixen tennis team traveled to the home of the Bridgewater College Eagles for their last Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) match of the season.  The Vixens fell to the Eagles by a score of 3-6, and are now holding a 7-3 (13-5 overall) record in the conference.

Highlights for the Vixens revolve around the first doubles team of senior Virginia Edahl (Charlotte, N.C.) and first-year player Moriah Burke (Rockville, Md.) who got the first team point at first doubles.  The duo is now 9-1 in ODAC play at the number one spot heading into the conference tournament which is set to begin on Saturday at Washington & Lee University.  In addition, this victory also adds to the record held by the two for most doubles wins in a single season by one pair at Sweet Briar at 20, and for Edahl as the individual with most doubles wins in a single season with 21 victories.

Edahl then went on to take the win at first singles, 6-2 and 6-2.  This victory makes Edahl the Sweet Briar record holder for most careers singles wins* with 52 total singles wins.

Burke held her ground at the second singles position, also winning in straight sets with scores of 7-5, 6-1.

The Vixens let some opportunities slip, and the Eagles capitalized to pull out the match win on the remaining courts.
