Box Score 2 The Sweet Briar Vixen tennis team concluded their spring season
on Sunday at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship
tournament held at Washington & Lee University. The
third-seed Vixens challenged second-seeded Hollins for the
championship round. After a hard-fought match on all courts
lasting over four hours, Hollins won the match 6-3.
The team then rallied for the 3rd and 4th
position against the Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan College.
The Marlins won this one by a 5-1 decision over the Vixens.
“We were picked in the pre-season poll to place fifth in
the conference. I knew that we had a team that could compete
at the top half of our conference, and we proved that this
weekend. To battle at each position like our team did against
#2 Hollins, and to place fourth in this conference is a testament
to how hard this team has worked. I am extremely proud of
their many accomplishments this year. Our two seniors, Leslie Polaski and Virginia Edahl, will certainly be missed next year.
I know next year we will have a team that will build on this
year's accomplishments, and we believe we can continue a
winning tradition,” stated head coach Teresa Boylan.
