The Sweet Briar College tennis team hosted the Quakers of Guilford College today.  Despite a dramatic start, the Vixens played strong and took the match by a score of  7-2.

Playing first doubles today was Krista Maldonado ('12/Ennis, Texas) and Jessica Bronner ('14/Haynesville, Va.). They came back from 4-7 down to win their match point.  Second doubles had first-year player Ariel Taylor (Springfield, Va.) paired with sophomore Sarah Manter (Brunswick, Maine).  The first and second doubles courts went to the Vixens, each in a set tie-breaker and each with a win of 7-4 in their respective tie-breaks. Third doubles was  played by first-year players Andra Brumfield (Altavista, Va.) and Grace Caskey (Warwick, N.Y.) and this court went to the Quakers, 8-5.

Singles proved to be a little smoother for the Vixens, taking five of the six singles points, all in straight sets. 

The Vixens will host the Yellow Jackets of Randolph-Macon College tomorrow at 1:00 pm for another conference match.
