Box Score The Sweet Briar College tennis team hosted a non-conference match today against the Eagles of University of Mary Washington (#20). The Eagles won the match 8-1.
The Vixen team highlight today was the first singles court win by first-year player Ariel Taylor (Springfield, Va.) who beat senior Eagle Courtney Goimarac, 6-2, 6-4. Ariel's singles record is now 14-0 at first singles.
Sweet Briar had a lot to handle with the Eagles (6-1), who are nationally ranked at 20th and leading the Capital Athletic Conference this spring. "We are a young team, and when we are striving to be competitive with some of the best teams in the region and nationally. We go into the tail end of our conference season these next two weeks, and I am confident that we will build and learn from our performances from this week and finish strong," said coach Teresa Boylan of the Vixens, now 11-4 overall.
The next match for the Vixens is at Roanoke College at 4 pm on Wednesday.
