The Sweet Briar Vixen softball team took on the Eagles of Bridgewater College on Wednesday afternoon. It was a pleasant day at Vixen field until the wind kicked in.

The Vixens lost in the first game 19-0 and in the second 16-0. It was the errors in the first game (9 errors) that really caused the loss. Senior pitcher Anna Newberg (New Britain, CT) may have pitched one of the best games of her season.

In the second game for the Vixens,  there were three different pitchers in rotation. Senior Jordan Pugh (Nellysford, VA) started on the mound but was relieved by first year Mandi Catlett (Spotsylvania, VA).  Anna Newberg ended on the mound. The Vixens were able to get runners on the bases but unable to get them home in the second game. Sophomore Kalyn McCullough (Canton, TX) had two hits for the Vixens in the second game.

The Vixens are back in action for their last game of the season on Sunday at Vixen Field when they take on the Maroons of Roanoke College. Game times are 2:00pm and 4:00pm.
