The Sweet Briar tennis team wrapped up its spring season with their semifinal match against the Generals of Washington & Lee at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championships today.  The Generals won by a decision score of 5-0, but not without a great Vixen effort and many match highlights.

Ariel Taylor ('14/Springfield, Va.) won the first set against W & L's Ellen Yeatman, and was just starting the second set; junior Krista Maldonado (Ennis, Texas) lost the first set, but was at 1-1 in the second; and Jessica Bronner ('14/Haynesville, Va.) was also down a set and tied at 2-2 for the second set when the match was decided 5-0.

"I am very proud of the fight our players had today. We have made some great strides throughout the season and had great competition today at doubles and singles by each team member; it was definitely a team effort against this opponent. There were some very competitive and high-quality matches today, despite the scores.  We have a strong foundation to  carry us into a winning 2011-12 season, and we are looking forward to being at next year's tournament," said coach Boylan of the team's effort today.
