Today was senior day at Vixen Field where the softball team honored their two seniors, Anna Newberg (New Britain, CT) and Jordan Pugh (Nellysford, VA). Anna and Jordan are the second and third players in Vixen softball history to play for four years. Both players have left their mark on the program. Jordan is currently ranked 4th in career at-bats, 5th in career RBIs, 6th in career hits, and is tied for 2nd in career homeruns. Anna is 5th in career wins, and is 2nd in career putouts.
Today the Vixen team took on visiting Emory & Henry College. Sweet Briar fought hard on the sunny day but were unable to come up with any runs, and fell to the Wasps 11-0 in the first game and 16-0 in the second.
Playing some great defense in both games was sophomore Kalyn McCullough (Canton, TX). Kalyn came up with some great grounders and was able to throw out many batters at first base. First year Nikki Thompson (Axton, VA) was able to reach on base for all her at bats, however the Vixens were unable to bring her in and make use of her at bats.
The Vixens are back in action on April 10 when they head to Guilford College, game time is 2pm.
