The Sweet Briar tennis Vixens played a home double header today, and came out 2-0 for the afternoon.

The first was a conference match against the Wasps of Emory and Henry College.  With the unusually cool  and rainy spring weather playing tricks on the tennis teams again today, the matches were played until a decision of five points earned to determine the winning team. 

Sweet Briar took all three doubles to start for three points, and then added a win by Ariel Taylor at first singles winning in straight sets 6-1,6-0.  The match deciding point was won at the third singles position by Ansley Smith, also winning in straight sets 6-1,6-0. 

The second match-up for the Vixens was against Southern Virginia University with this match  decided by a score of 5-1.  The Vixens won two of the three doubles points, and then three of the singles matches played.  Wins at singles went to Ariel Taylor 6-1, 6-1 at first singles, Emma Merritt-Cuneo winning at sixth singles 6-3,6-0, and to Ansley Smith in the third court position winning in a match tiebreaker.  Her scores were 7-5, 4-6, 1-0 (5).

The Vixens will host the University of Mary Washington tomorrow at 1:00 pm.
