SWEET BRIAR, Va. --- Sweet Briar hosted cross-town rival Randolph College on Tuesday afternoon in Old Dominion Athletic Conference tennis action.  Both teams upended fellow ODAC opponent Virginia Wesleyan College over the previous weekend and both teams looked to collect another league win.

The Vixens found themselves down 2-1 at the conclusion of doubles matches.  Yuliya Rigg (Sweet Briar, Va./Amherst) and Courtney Todd (Sterling, Va./Dominion) recorded the lone SBC win on court three. (8-4).  The singles slate came down to the wire. 

Rigg and Todd picked up straight sets singles wins on courts five and six, respectively.  Sarah Manter (Brunswick, Maine/Brunswick) and Allie Raifsnider (Concord, N.C./Jay M. Robinson) dropped decisions and the final point total came down to courts two and four.  Rachel Byrd (Hartsfield, Va./Mathews), who was named to the ODAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week Honor Roll on Monday, went the distance on court four, but could not secure the win.  Byrd won the first set (6-2) and then lost the second (6-3).  With the match decision still in the balance, WildCat #4 singles player Katlyn Kolster (Powhatan, Va./Powhatan) forced a third set tie-breaker.  Kolster outlasted Byrd (6-3) to pick up another point for Randolph.

On court two, SBC's Emma Merritt-Cuneo (Pacifica, Calif./Oceana) battled with Anna Culpepper (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian).  The tightly contested match saw each player win a set (7-6).  Merritt-Cuneo went on to take the tie-breaker (10-8), but the overall count ended in favor of the WildCats.

Vixen regular season plays ends on the road at Bridgewater College.  The ODAC match is scheduled for a 4:30 p.m. start in Harrisonburg, Va.
