HARRISONBURG, Va.--- The Vixen Softball team traveled to Bridgewater College for a Friday afternoon Old Dominion Athletic Conference contest. The national ranked Eagles, 15th in the latest National Fast Pitch Coaches Association poll, sit in second place in the ODAC standings. Bridgewater split in their last ODAC outing while Sweet Briar entered the double-header still looking for their first conference win.
The Eagles set the tone in the first inning of game one and never looked back. The home team took advantage of nine hits in the bottom of the first to take the lead for good. In game two the Eagles put together two four-run innings while holding the Vixens scoreless to solidify the sweep.
Precision pitching and solid fielding by the Eagles limited the Vixens to just two hits and no runs on the afternoon. Sophomore Amanda Catlett picked up a hit in game one while Christen Campbell connected for the Vixens' other hit in game two. Campbell started game one in the circle for the Vixens, and Janiecia Mitchell (Bluffton, S.C./Bluffton) took over in game two.
The Vixens are back in action on Monday at home when they take on visiting Mary Baldwin College. The non-conference match up is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m.
