SWEET BRIAR, Va. --- Senior goalkeeper Brooke Scott (Kemah, Tex./Episcopal) had a stellar day in net for the Vixens on Wednesday as they fell to non-conference for Frostburg State.   Scott, aggressive all day in protecting her cage finished with 23 saves.

Katie Farr (Waldorf, Md./Thomas Stone) broke a scoreless tie in the 16th minute to give the Bobcats a lead which would hold up for the duration.  Frostburg scored three more times in the first half, taking a 4-0 lead into the break.  Sweet Briar controlled more of the midfield in the second half, surrendering only one goal in the final stanza.  First-year Hannah Oybkhan (Wilmington, Del./Caravel Academy) and junior Morgan Harris (Chesapeake, Va./Grassfield) had the best scoring opportunities for the Vixens.  Sweet Briar ended each half with an offensive penalty corner, but was unable to convert each time.

Scott, matching her career high of 23 saves, directed traffic in front all afternoon.  She also turned away two penalty shots from the Bobcats.  Backing up Scott, first-year defender Eve Mergenthaler (Litchfield, Conn./Litchfield) contributed two defensive saves from her field position.  Adelaide Hedge (Winston-Salem, N.C./Mt. Tabor) and Molly Van Buren (New Haven, Vt./Mt. Abraham) were also key cogs in the defensive effort for the Vixens.

Sweet Briar will return to action on Saturday, September 29 at noon, taking on the Maroons of Roanoke College in Salem. Va.
