Box Score FROSTBURG, Md. --- The Sweet Briar field hockey team traveled to north to take on the Bobcats on Wednesday afternoon. The match wrapped up non-conference play for the Vixens in 2013.
After allowing six first half goals, the Vixen team defense stiffened and allowed only one goal in the second stanza. The final period also saw Sweet Briar match the Bobcats in scorng opportunities. Frostburg finished the game with a 7-0 victory.
Hannah Oybkhan (Wilmington, Del./Caravel Academy), Kimberly Orchowski (Crofton, Md./Arundel), Siena Powers (Winston-Salem, N.C./Ronald Reagan), Loralei Whittaker (Chesapeake, Va./Western Branch) and Rachel Lenihan (Westport, Conn./Joel Barlow) all had standout scoring opportunities in the second half.
Sophomore All-ODAC defender Eve Mergenthaler tallied two defensive saves on the afternoon.
Sweet Briar looks to get back on the winning track during this weekend's Founders' Day Celebration on campus. The Vixens welcome the Marlins from Virginia Wesleyan to Thayer Field for a 2:30 p.m. tilt.
