Box Score SWEET BRIAR, Va. -- On a beautiful afternoon and in front of a great home crowd, the Sweet Briar College Vixens defeated Hollins University by the score of 15-2.
The Vixens came out of the gate early and scored the game's first eight goals. Sweet Briar was led by Allison McLamb (Ellicott City, Md. / Howard) and Allison Hassard (Greensboro, N.C. / Grimsley) who each scored three goals. Kimberly Orchowski (Arundel, Md. / Arundel) who holds the SBC record for assists, added to her count with nine helpers on the afternoon.
Eight SBC lacrosse players recorded one or more goals in the effort, including Hannah Oybkhan (Wilmington, Del. / Caravel Academy) who picked up her first career score.
Vixen goalkeeper Emily Williams (Zionsville, Ind. / Zionsville Community) is now 3-6 on the season. The first-year made one save on two shots faced. Fellow rookie Ashton Reid (Concord, Va./Rustburg) came on in the second to preserve the win.
Current SBC head coach Hayley Engster shared that, "it is great to get that first conference win and to do so on the 100th celebration in front of such a large crowd with alumnae here, makes it even more special."
The victory brings the Vixen record to 3-7 overall and 1-4 in the ODAC. Today's win was a great way to celebrate the lacrosse program's 100th anniversary. SBC will take on Lynchburg College in a home contest on Wednesday, April 2 at 4:30 p.m. on Babcock Field.
