WINCHESTER, Va. --- On Sunday, April 13 the Sweet Briar College softball team faced Shenandoah Univeristy in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference match up.
The hosts claimed victory in game 1 by the score of 10-0. In the first contest, the Vixens were held to just one hit through five innings. In the game two rematch, SBC held the hosts scoreless through two while generating three hits and six base runners. The Vixens could not plate a run through the top of the third.
In the bottom of the third, the Hornets took advantage of back to back hits an took a 1 run lead. SBC recorded two outs and then SU capitalized on a fielding error and put another run on the board. Shenandoah tacked on another run in the fourth inning to take a 3-0 win.
Sweet Briar would not allow another run through the final frame. The Vixens put runners in scoring position, but the Hornets stingy defense kept SBC off the board. SU took caputred the game 2 win by the score of 3-0.
Molly Langford (Dinwiddie, Va. / Richmond Christian) threw the complete game for Sweet Briar in game two. Megan Thompson (Newport News, Va. / Warwick) spent the entire first game in the circle for SBC.
The SBC record now stands at 4-19 overall. Softball next takes the diamond on Tuesday, April 15 when the team welcomes Lynchburg College to campus.
