Box Score 2 NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Sweet Briar women's tennis fell to 2-2 as they were defeated by Christopher Newport and Methodist at the CNU Quad Saturday in Newport News, Virginia.
In the first match of the day for the Vixens, the Captains blanked Sweet Briar, 9-0, in the opening match of the day for both teams.
CNU posted straight-set victories in singles action. Caitlin Delmas (Asheville, N.C./K-12 International Academy) gave McKinney Harwood all she could handle in No. 1 singles; Harwood came away with the 6-1, 6-4 victory.
The Captains were just too strong as they swept the Vixens in doubles action.
In the second match of the day it was Delmas who gave the Vixens their lone victory against Methodist. Delmas defeated Abigail Randolph 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 1 singles. AJ Lukanuski took Davi Barbour to three sets 6-4, 3-6 (6-0) in No. 2 singles.
The Vixens will be back in action tomorrow, where they will face off against Roanoke at Christopher Newport (an ODAC neutral-site) at 10:00 a.m.
