SWEET BRIAR, Va. -- The Sweet Briar tennis team defeated Mary Baldwin College 8-1 Wednesday evening in the home opener in Sweet Briar.

The Vixens are now 3-3 on the season while Mary Baldwin College is 0-1 on the season.

Sweet Briar won five of six singles matches as Caitlin Delmas defeated Alexandra Cincinnati 6-0, 6-0 and AJ Lukanuski defeated Alayah Austin 6-0, 6-0 in the number one and two singles. The Fighting Squirrels only victory came in number 6 singles as Brenda Ajavon defeated Baylee Worth 8-5. Gina Rutledge defeated her opponent Jochebed Koomson 6-1, 6-0 in the number three spot.

The Vixens swept all three doubles matches, Delmas and Georgia Kirkland defeated Miangel Hite and Jeni-Lee MacLaughlin 8-1 in number two doubles, while Samantha Yew and Anna Colvin defeated Sakurako Ishii and Koomson 9-7.

Sweet Briar returns to the courts on Tuesday against Washington and Lee at 6:00 pm at Washington and Lee.
