Box Score The Sweet Briar College tennis team improved to 2-0 on the season with a 6-3 victory at William Peace on Saturday afternoon.
In their opening match of the spring, the Vixens took a 2-1 lead after doubles play. Gina Rutledge and AJ Lukanuski outlasted Kristen Edwards/Brooke Campbell 9-7 in the top spot, and Caitlin Delmas/Baylee Worth beat Sierra Wyse/Alexandra Dixon 8-4 at second singles.
Sweet Briar also took the top three singles matches in straight sets.
Delmas beat Edwards 6-0, 6-1 at first singles, with Lukanuski (#2) and Rutledge (#3) also winning in two sets.
Sweet Briar got a 6-4, 6-2 victory from Georgia Kirkland at sixth singles.
The Vixens will be back in action next weekend at Christopher Newport, where they will face the hosts along with Methodist and Roanoke (in a neutral-site ODAC match). All three opponents are regionally-ranked by ITA.
