Vixens Claim First Conference Win

SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The Sweet Briar tennis team defeated Lynchburg College, 5-1, in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference match Wednesday evening at the Babcock Tennis Courts in Sweet Briar, Virginia. 

The Vixens improve to 4-7 overall, and 1-2 claiming their first ODAC victory this season. While the Hornets fall to 0-5 overall and 0-3 in the conference.

Caitlin Delmas and Georgia Kirkland blanked Kelsey Dowling and Jerica Simmons in number two doubles action, 8-0.

The Hornets lone win came at number one doubles, as Melissa Drinkard and Catherine So defeated Gina Rutledge and AJ Lukanuski 8-4.

Delmas blanked her opponent, Melissa Drinkard in the number one singles spot, 6-0, 6-0. Adowa Sika defeated Megan Tillou 6-1, 6-3 in the five singles spot, while Rutledge clenched the victory for the Vixens as she defeated Kelsey Dowling 6-2, 6-1 at number three singles.

The Vixens return to the court on Friday as they travel to Randolph for an ODAC match, first serve is set for 3:30 p.m. at Randolph Tennis Courts.
