SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The Sweet Briar softball team fell to Bridgewater, 17-2 and 12-3, in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Vixen Softball Field in Sweet Briar, Virginia.
The Vixens fall to 2-12 overall and 0-8 in the ODAC, while Bridgewater improves to 9-11 overall and 2-4 in the conference.
In game one, Kayla Dooms and Nene Jones both recorded doubles for the Vixens. The Eagles would take a commanding 15-0 lead, before Dooms and Jones would cross the plate to score the teams only two runs of the game.
Molly Langford took the loss in the circle, as she faced 39 batters, she allowed 16 hits and struck out three. Amanda Lutz got the victory for the Eagles as she faced 23 batters and struck out seven and only walked two batters.
In game two, Hollie Halford would cross the plate as Dooms reached first on an error by the first baseman, to make the score 6-1 after one.
In the bottom of the third Sweet Briar, saw Amanda Terry walked, Halford double and Dooms bring Halford home on a single.
Cynthia Schuh pitched all six innings and faced 37 batters in the loss.
The Vixens return to the diamond tomorrow, when they host Roanoke in an ODAC doubleheader, first pitch is set for 1:00 p.m.
