Box Score VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Sweet Briar lacrosse team fell, 18-12, in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference game against Virginia Wesleyan Wednesday afternoon at Foster Field/Trinder in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
The Vixens fall to 4-7 overall and 1-3 in the ODAC, while the Marlins improve to 6-5 overall and 2-3 in the conference.
Sweet Briar would have a 3-1 lead with 25:24 left in the first half, before the Marlins would score six goals to take a 7-3 lead. The Vixens would respond with four goals to close out the half, Monica Ewansik tallied a hat trick to send the two teams into the half tied at 7 apiece.
The Vixens tied the game at nine with 24:43 left in the game on a free position shot from Kelsey Barta. Barta would give the Vixens their final lead 12-11, with 11:36 remaining in the game. Virginia Wesleyan scored seven unanswered goals and went on for the 18-12 victory.
Ewansik led the Vixens with five goals and an assist. Allison McLamb tallied three goals for the Vixens.
The Vixens will return home to host Shenandoah on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Babcock Field in Sweet Briar, Virginia in an ODAC game.
