Box Score SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The Sweet Briar tennis defeated Virginia Wesleyan, 7-2, in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference tennis match Sunday afternoon at Babcock Tennis Courts in Sweet Briar, Virginia.
The Vixens improve to 5-11 overall in the season and are now 2-7 in the ODAC, while the Marlins fall to 4-8 overall and 2-8 in the conference.
The Vixens took control of the match early as they swept doubles on all three courts. AJ Lukanuski and Gina Rutledge defeated Mia Proctor and Tiye Johnson 8-6 in number one doubles. While the team of Anna Colvin and Samantha Yew defeated Layla Amarir and Tyla Bush 8-6 at number three.
Margaret Raymond defeated her opponent Dara Gunter 6-1, 6-1 in number six singles allowing Caitlin Delmas to clinch the victory for the Vixens, defeating Mia Proctor 6-3, 6-1 in number one singles.
Lukanuski and Colvin both defeated their opponents, Lukanuski, 7-5, 6-1 at number two singles and Colvin 6-3, 6-1 in number four singles.
The Vixens remain at home when they host Emory and Henry on Wednesday at 4:30 at Babcock Tennis Courts in an ODAC tennis match.
