Box Score ROANOKE – The Sweet Briar lacrosse team defeated rival Hollins, 17-4, in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference game Wednesday afternoon at Moody Field in Roanoke, Virginia.
The Vixens improve to 5-11 overall on the 2015 season, and 2-7 in the conference, while Hollins falls to 0-12 overall and 0-9 in the conference.
Monica Ewansik and Genny Kelley led the Vixens as both had three goals apiece in the victory for Sweet Briar.
The Vixens tallied five unanswered goals with 17:55 remaining in the first half. Christina Havrilla put Hollins on the board with 11:36 on the clock, before Sweet Briar netted another four goals to take a 9-1 lead. Hollins closed out the first half on a free position goal from Havrilla as the Vixens went into the half leading 9-2.
Reba Gagne and Leyte McNealus opened the second half with two goals, as the Vixens would lead 11-2 with 24:00 left in the game. Sweet Briar closed out the game scoring six goals as they went on for the 17-4 victory over Hollins.
Sweet Briar closes out the season when they travel to Lynchburg for their final game on Saturday April 18 at 1:00 p.m. in Lynchburg, Virginia.
