LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Sweet Briar College tennis team opened their spring season with a dual match at Lynchburg College on Friday afternoon. The host Hornets won the match, 7-2.

The day started with some strong doubles performances from the Vixens. On court one the duo of Gina Rutledge and AJ Lukanuski won, 8-5, over their Lynchburg counterparts Valeria Erostegui and Kelsey Dowling.

Anna Colvin and Samantha Yew had a hard-fought match on court two. The pair came back from behind to tie the match at 8-8 and force a tiebreak. Their comeback came up short, as they lost the tiebreak 5-7.

The Vixens second win of the day came in singles play, where Lukanuski took down Erostegui, 6-0, 6-2, on court two.

The Vixens will head back to Lynchburg on Thursday, March 3, to face Randolph College at 3 p.m.
