Vixen Tennis Wins Close Match Over Southern Virginia

BUENA VISTA, Va.- The Sweet Briar College tennis team traveled to Southern Virginia University for a match on Wednesday afternoon. The Vixens emerged victorious, 5-4.

Sweet Briar picked up a doubles win on court two, where Anna Colvin and Samantha Yew downed Katie Durrant and Ashley Adamson, 8-4

The Vixens picked up the remainder of their points in singles play, winning four the six courts. AJ Lukanuski played on court two and took down her SVU opponent, 6-0, 6-3. Yew won by the same score on court four over Adamson.

Colvin dropped her first set on court three, 4-6, to Durrant before battling back to win the final two sets. The Bethlehem, Pa. native won set two, 6-2, and the tiebreak set, 14-12.

On court five, Des'rae Davis picked up her second win of the season, downing the Knight's Devyn Matley. After dropping the first set, 3-6, Davis came from behind to win the final two sets, 6-4, 7-5.

The Vixens will next be in action on Friday when they host Ferrum College beginning at 3 p.m.
