Box Score SWEET BRIAR, Va.- The Sweet Briar College tennis team picked up a decisive victory over Ferrum College on Friday afternoon. The host Vixens won the contest, 8-1.
The day started with the Vixens taking the top-two doubles courts. Samantha Yew and Anna Colvin picked up their fourth win of the season, downing Xena Guzman and Raquel Ramseur, 8-0, on court two. AJ Lukanuski and Gina Rutledge were victorious over Alexandria Dixon and Rachel Wells, 8-6, on court one.
Sweet Briar swept all the singles matches to lock up a convincing fourth dual-match victory of the season. Lukanuski set the tone on court one by dispatching Dixon, 6-2, 6-0, for her fifth singles win of the season.
Rutledge fell behind to Wells in the first set before rallying back in the final two sets to win, 3-6, 6-4, 1-0.
Colvin and Megan Johnston both picked up decisive 6-0, 6-0 victories. Colvin was victorious on court three over Ramseur and the senior Johnston dispatched Guzman on court five.
On court four, Yew got by Monica Morris, 6-3, 6-0, for her fourth singles victory of the campaign. Katie Craig picked up her second singles win of the season over Trinity Welsh. The senior won 6-2, 6-2.
The Vixens will play three matches in a row next week, starting with Salem College on Friday, April 1. The home contest will get underway at 3:30 p.m.
