Tennis Concludes Weekend At Guilford

GREENSBORO, N.C.- The host Guilford College Quakers got the best of the Sweet Briar College tennis team on Sunday afternoon. The Quakers were victorious, 6-3.

The Vixens picked up their three wins in singles play, including a sweep of the top-two courts. AJ Lukanuski picked up her eighth singles victory of the season in a close match on court one with Katie Claggett. After dropping the first set, 4-6, Lukanuski battled back to win final two sets, 7-6 and 1-0.

Junior Gina Rutledge took down Nora Prokosch on court two for her fifth individual win this season. Just like Lukanuski, Rutledge dropped the first set and had to fight back into the match. After Prokosch won the first set, 6-1, Rutledge took the second set, 6-1, and the third, 1-0.

Junior Des'rae Davis picked up her fourth victory of the season today on court six. Davis is now 4-0 in singles play this season after downing Luci Gordon, 7-5, 6-2.

Sweet Briar will travel to Trinity Washington University on Saturday, April 16, for a noon start. The Vixens downed the Tigers at home last Sunday, 9-0, and will be looking to repeat that success.
