Box Score WASHINGTON D.C.- The Sweet Briar College tennis team made the most of a beautiful Saturday afternoon in the nation's capital, downing the Trinity Washington University Tigers, 8-1.
The Vixens got things started by sweeping doubles play. On court three, Madi Mills and Megan Johnston made quick work of Armani McCoy and Kelly Cruz, winning 8-0.
Anna Colvin and Samantha Yew didn't waste anytime on court two as the duo took down Gabrielle Clary and Lauren Williams, 8-1. On court one, AJ Lukanuski and Gina Rutledge got by Gwynne Arias and Patrice Sykes, 8-4.
Singles play was just as successful for the Vixens. Lukanuski set the ton on court one with a sweep of Clary, 6-0, 6-0. On court two, Rutledge downed Arias, 6-3, 6-1 for the junior's sixth win of the season.
Yew didn't waste any time against Sykes on court three. The sophomore won, 6-1, 6-1. Senior Katie Craig won her fifth match of the spring with a, 6-2, 6-1, drubbing of Williams.
On court five, first-year Ana Bartolome picked up her first collegiate victory. The Grand Prairie, Texas native downed McCoy, 6-3, 6-3.
The Vixen tennis team will travel to rival Hollins University on Thursday, April 21st, for a 4 p.m. start.
