RALEIGH, N.C.- The Sweet Briar College tennis team played their second match in a row on Saturday when they traveled to William Peace University. The Pacers edged out the Vixens, 5-4.
The Vixens picked up a doubles victory on court one, where Anna Colvin and Samantha Yew took down Olivia Egbert and Sierra Wyse. The pair of Vixen sophomores pushed their season record to 6-4 by winning, 8-6.
The Vixens won a pair of very close matches on courts one and two in singles. Gina Rutledge picked up a point for Sweet Briar on court one by getting past Alexandra Dixon, 5-7, 6-1, 1-0. After their doubles matchup, Colvin and Egbert met again on court two for singles. Colvin got the best of Egbert again, on her way to a 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 victory.
Sweet Briar's final point came courtesy of Des'rae Davis on court six. The junior improved to 3-0 on the season by getting past Anna Grace Wyneken, 6-4, 6-1.
Tomorrow will bring an opportunity for the Vixens to get back to their winning ways when they host Trinity Washington University for Senior Day, starting at 1 p.m.
