Box Score SWEET BRIAR, Va.- Wrapping up a three-match weekend, the Sweet Briar College tennis team made easy work of Trinity Washington University on Sunday afternoon, winning 9-0.
Before the match the Vixens honored their two graduating seniors, Megan Johnston and Katie Craig, for their contributions to Vixen athletics and Sweet Briar as a whole.
Court one doubles saw AJ Lukanuski and Gina Rutledge dispatch Gwynne Arias and Patrice Sykes, 8-1. Samantha Yew and Anna Colvin made easy work of Gabrielle Clary and Lauren Williams on court two. The Sweet Briar duo won, 8-0. Madi Mills and Des'rae Davis paired up for court three doubles and got by their Trinity opposition of Armani McCoy and Shantia Murray, 8-0.
Lukanuski wasted no time on court one singles, as she got by Clary, 6-0, 6-0. Rutledge showed no hesitation on court two, where she was paired against Trinity's Arias. The Vixen junior won, 6-2, 6-2.
Colvin and Sykes battled on court three and it was the Bethleham, Pa. product Colvin that emerged victorious, 6-0, 6-0. Yew got by Williams on court four with ease, winning 6-0, 6-0.
Johnston played court five singles and dispatched McCoy, 6-1, 7-6, for her senior day victory. Craig celebrated senior day by defeating Murray, 6-0, 6-0.
The Vixens are now 6-6 on the season and will travel to Shenandoah on Friday, April 8, for a 4 p.m. match.
