FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.- The Sweet Briar College lacrosse team opened their weekend by traveling to Methodist University for a Saturday afternoon contest. The host Monarchs struck early with two goals in the first minute and won the contest, 22-1.

Sophomore Elizabeth Phaup scored her third goal of the season to mark the Vixens lone tally of the day. The unassisted effort came with eight minutes to play in the first half.

The Vixens top scorer, Reba Gagne, was limited to just one shot, but had an otherwise productive day with two ground balls, four draw controls, and a caused turnover. Alexa Dahlin also had a solid performance in midfield, winning two draw controls and corralling a ground ball.

Junior Emily Williams made nine saves and grabbed two ground balls while playing all 60 minutes in cage for the Vixens.

The Vixens will get a chance to bounce back tomorrow when they travel to Ferrum College for a 1 p.m. start.
