AMHERST, Va.- The Sweet Briar College tennis team won its second Old Dominion Athletic Conference match of the season on Friday afternoon, taking down Guilford College, 6-3.

The Vixens got off to a good start, winning two-of-three doubles courts. AJ Lukanuski and Gina Rutledge took down Katie Claggett and Nora Prokosch on court one, 8-4. On court two, Samantha Yew and Emily Wandling continued their impressive play this season, taking down Makayla McLaurin and Leigh Fishman, 8-3. That win gives the pairing eight wins together in doubles this season.

SBC entered singles play with a 2-1 advantage and took four of the singles courts to secure the margin of victory. Wandling wrapped up a stellar week, winning her third singles match over an ODAC opponent this week. She took down Prokosch, 6-1, 6-2. On court three, Rutledge picked up her second singles victory in-a-row by cruising past Fishman, 6-0, 6-0.

Yew made her win look equally impressive on court four by beating Brooklyn Hopkins, 6-1, 6-1. The junior from The Bronx now has nine wins in singles play this season. 

The final Vixen point came on court six, where Lacey Tucker won her first collegiate singles match of the season. The first-year took down Maureen Smith, 6-2, 6-4.

SBC will wrap up its home season on Tuesday against Lynchburg College. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., but beforehand the Vixens will honor their three graduating seniors, Gina Rutledge, Des'rae Davis, and Alicia Wooten.
