Tennis Celebrates Senior Day Against Lynchburg

AMHERST, Va.- The Sweet Briar College tennis team honored its three graduating seniors before Tuesday nights match against Lynchburg College. Gina Rutledge, Des'rae Davis, and Alicia Wooten were recognized alongside their families before the start of the match. Lynchburg spoiled the Vixens Senior Day by taking the match, 7-2.

The Vixens first win of the evening came on doubles court two, where the pairing of Samantha Yew and Emily Wandling cruised past Emily Simpson and Reagan Coon, 8-0. The win was the duo's ninth together this season.

Wandling also picked up SBC's second point of the match by winning her singles match on court two. The first-year matched up against Simpson again and won with relative ease, 6-1, 6-1. Wandling is now 12-3 on the season, 6-2 against ODAC opponents, and 9-1 in her last ten singles matches.

The Vixens will return to the courts on Friday, when they travel to Emory & Henry College for a 4 p.m. match.
