VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.- The Sweet Briar College lacrosse team was on the road Wednesday afternoon, paying a visit to Virginia Wesleyan College. The host Marlins wasted no time putting the game out of reach on way to a 20-0 victory.

Despite the scoreline, junior goalkeeper Shawnta Sherman turned in a career day by setting new personal bests with 17 saves and a save percentage of 46 percent. Sherman also grabbed three groundballs, tied for the team high.

Joining Sherman with three groundballs was senior Noell Cosby, a season best for the Lynchburg native. As a team, SBC corralled 13 groundballs as juniors Alexa Dahlin and Elizabeth Phaup also recorded multi-groundball games.

The Vixens also caused six turnovers in the match, with senior Chelsea Alvarado leading the team with a pair. First-year Flo Mohammed led SBC with two draw controls.

SBC will wrap up its home campaign on Saturday with a noon contest against Shenandoah University. Before the start of the game, the lacrosse team's five graduating seniors and their families will be honored for their dedication to the lacrosse program and Sweet Briar athletic department. Be sure to come out and bid a farewell to seniors Chelsea Alvarado, Noell Cosby, Kiley Jolicoeur, Jessica Lusby, and Ashton Reid.
