LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Sweet Briar College softball team continued its spring season with an ODAC doubleheader at nearby Randolph College. The WildCats continued their impressive season with a series sweep over SBC, winning the games 19-0 and 11-0.
Game One
Randolph's Abbi Pannill was impressive in the circle, pitching five shutout innings and limiting the SBC bats all game. Chelsea McKinney had SBC's lone hit of the game, a big double to lead off the second inning.
Three other Vixens did reach base, as Mary Kate Bailey drew two walks while Kayla Dooms and Taylor Fischer each earned one free pass.
Game Two
In game two of the twin bill, Sweet Briar had a chance to get on the board when Bailey started the third inning with a single. Two batters later, junior Rachel Rogers drew a walk to put runners at first and second. A sacrifice bunt from Erica Orr would advance the runners to second and third with two down, but Amanda Terry was unable to capitalize on the situation and left both runners stranded.
In the fifth inning, first-year Jessica Kennedy ripped a single up the middle for her second hit of the season.
The Vixens will return home and celebrate Senior Day this Saturday, April 8, when they host Eastern Mennonite. The first game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
