Tennis Opens Busy Weekend Against Randolph

AMHERST, Va.- The Sweet Briar College tennis team continued conference play with a match against Randolph College on Friday afternoon at Amherst Middle School. The visiting WildCats made quick work of SBC, winning 9-0.

The most competitive doubles match came on court one, where AJ Lukanuski and Gina Rutledge challenged the Randolph duo of Keyu Jin and Aubrey Hawn, but eventually fell, 8-4.

In singles, Emily Wandling put up a fight against Hawn on court two. After her counterpart took the first set, Wandling battled back to win set two, 6-3. The battle of first-year players was won by Hawn, who took the third-set tiebreaker. 

The Vixens will have a short turn around, returning to their home courts at Amhest Middle School on Sunday against Virginia Wesleyan College. The match is scheduled to get underway at 2 p.m.
