Box Score The Sweet Briar tennis season opened their spring slate of matches at home on Tuesday. The Vixens welcomed #12 Washington and Lee University to campus on a sunny and breezy afternoon.
Emily Wandling and AJ Lukanuski led the way for Sweet Briar. Wandling grabbed a game from Michelle Fleenor (6-1, 6-0) at first singles and Lukanuski took three games from Mary Hampton McNeal (6-1, 6-2) on court two. The Wandling/Lukanuski team also won a game in their doubles match, falling to Fleenor and Lauren Hassell (8-1)
Coach Dustin Hale was pleased with his team's performance. "I feel the girls played well under the circumstances," he said. "It's always tough playing a team in the top 20, but we fought hard until the end. We will take all the positives from the match and get ready for Ferrum on Friday."
