GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Sweet Briar tennis team didn't drop a set in singles play, as the Vixens cruised to a 9-0 sweep of Guilford at the Centennial Class Courts on Saturday morning.

The Vixens (4-5, 1-3 Old Dominion Athletic Conference) opened play against the Quakers (0-8, 0-5 ODAC) with a sweep of doubles, led by a dominating 8-0 victory at No. 1 by sophomore Emily Wandling (Mechanicsville, Va.) and senior AJ Lukanuski (Richmond, Va.).

Sweet Briar's No. 3 doubles pair, sophomore Lacey Tucker (Swansboro, N.C.) and sophomore Lexi Culley (Louisa, Va.), topped Lakshmi Premysler and Megan Kimpel 8-1. An 8-2 scoreline saw the Vixens' No. 2 doubles side pick up a victory as senior Anna Colvin and senior Samantha Yew (The Bronx, N.Y.) topped Olivia La Ganza and Natalie Whitmeyer.

The Vixens powered through singles action with six straight-sets victories, including a pair of 6-0, 6-0 victories.

Wandling improved to 7-6 on the season with her victory over Makayla McLaurin at No. 1 singles (6-1, 6-0), while Lukanuski saw her season record climb to 5-4 with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Brooklyn Hopkins at No. 2.

Colvin won 6-0, 6-4 over La Ganza at No. 3, while Tucker earned a 6-0, 6-1 win against Megan Kimpel at No. 6 singles. 

Yew and Culley served up bagels at No. 4 and No. 5 singles, respectively. Yew topped Whitmeyer 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 and Culley dropped Premysler by a mirrored scoreline.

The Vixens' sweep of the Quakers was the third shutout victory of the season for Sweet Briar, with an 8-0 win over Heidelberg and 9-0 win at Mary Baldwin coming earlier in March.

Sweet Briar returns home on March 28, with a 4 p.m. opening serve set against Roanoke in ODAC play.
