Vixens wrap with eight wins for second time since 2011

LEXINGTON, Va. — For only the second time since the 2011 season, the Sweet Briar tennis team wrapped up the season with eight wins following a 5-0 loss in the opening round of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Tournament to the Washington & Lee Generals.

The Generals, ranked No. 15 in the nation by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association and No. 4 in the Atlantic South Region, opened the afternoon with 8-0 victories at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. Sweet Briar's top doubles duo, senior AJ Lukanuski (Richmond, Va.) and sophomore Emily Wandling (Mechanicsville, Va.) dropped an 8-1 decision to Michelle Fleenor and Ashton Jenne.

Singles play saw Jenne and Anna Kreynin win at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively to clinch the match with a 5-0 early decision.

Wandling wrapped up the season with an 11-10 overall record and 9-8 in dual matches, while Lukanuski finished with the best winning percentage on the Vixens' roster at .625, thanks to her 10-6 mark at No. 2 singles.

Sweet Briar finishes 2018 with an 8-11 overall mark, matching the eight wins from the 2016 season for the most wins since a 12-win season in 2011.
