Vixens fall to visiting WildCats

SWEET BRIAR, Va. — The Sweet Briar tennis squad dropped a 9-0 decision on Friday afternoon to the visiting Randolph WildCats at the Dennis Van Der Meer Tennis Center.

The Vixens (2-8, 0-3 ODAC) battled at No. 3 doubles, with the pair of first-year Emily Wrenn (Franklin, Va.) and sophomore My-Xuan Hillengas (Oak Park, Ill.) dropping an 8-3 decision to their Randolph (7-5, 5-1) counterparts.

No. 1 doubles saw a tight match wrap-up with an 8-5 Randolph victory over Sweet Briar juniors Emily Wandling (Mechanicsville, Va.) and Lacey Tucker (Swansboro, N.C.).

Randolph swept the Vixens in singles play, with Hillengas picking up one game in her opening set, before being forced to retire in set two at No. 6 singles.

At No. 1, Wandling took two games in the opening set and one in the second set before falling to Keyu Jin of Randolph.

The Vixens close out the month of March with an 11 a.m. match on Saturday, March 30, at Randolph-Macon.
