Wandling earns singles win as Vixens battle Eagles

BRIDGEWATER, Va. — Junior Emily Wandling won the 35th singles match of her collegiate career on Tuesday afternoon, as host Bridgewater topped Sweet Briar 8-1 at the Mapp Courts.

Following a Bridgewater (7-5, 4-3 ODAC) sweep in doubles action, Wandling (Mechanicsville, Va.) earned Sweet Briar's (2-13, 0-8 ODAC) lone point at No. 1 singles. Wandling met Whitney Kiser of Bridgewater and topped her Bridgewater foe 6-2, 6-1 for her ninth win of the season and 35th singles win of her collegiate career.

First-year Emily Wrenn (Franklin, Va.) won three games in a two-set loss at No. 5 singles to the Eagles' Alexia Will.

Next on Sweet Briar's slate is a visit to Hollins on Friday, April 19, with the opening serve scheduled for 4 p.m.
