FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Sweet Briar tennis saw six members advance in their brackets on day one of the Division III Women's Southeast ITA Regionals, hosted by the University of Mary Washington.
In singles play, junior
Ruth de Souza (Marilia, Brazil) advanced to the quarterfinal round of the championship draw after taking down Brooke Simpson, 6-1, 6-1, and Zoe Angell, 6-2, 2-6, 7-5.
Junior
Sofia Andrade (Latacunga, Ecuador) advanced to the semifinals of her bracket after an 8-2 victory over Avery Samer.
The doubles pairing of de Souza/Wandling advanced to the quarterfinals of the main draw after two huge victories, while Simhambhalta/Patino also advanced to the quarterfinals in B Doubles thanks to a victory over a pairing from Washington and Lee.
In the third doubles draw, the duo of Andrade/Alfaro advanced to the semifinals.

- Junior Allison Wandling (Mechanicsville, Va.) earned a victory on day one of play, defeating Jahveesha Combs of Shenandoah, 6-2, 7-6(3).
- de Souza also advanced to the quarterfinals in doubles play at the Southeast Regionals in 2019
