Box Score LYNCHBURG, Va. – Sweet Briar tennis (21-3, 9-1 ODAC), the No. 13 regionally ranked team, took down No. 14 Salisbury (9-5, 0-1 C2C) 9-0 today at the Crosswhite Fitness & Athletics Club.
The doubles teams of de Souza/Patino, Guilarte/Wandling and Alfaro/Andrade took down all of their Seagulls opponents by scores of 8-0, 8-4 and 8-2, respectively at the Van Der Meer Tennis Center before heading to Lynchburg to complete the match indoors due to rain.
In singles play, junior
Nikhita Simhambhatla (Hyderabad, Telangana, India) defeated Hannah Carter at No. 6 singles in straight sets for her fourth 6-0, 6-0 win of the season.
At the No. 1 singles position, junior
Ruth de Souza (Marilia, Brazil) won her match 6-1, 6-1, while first-year
Ana Patino (Medellín, Colombia) and
Allison Wandling (Mechanicsville, Va.) both won their matches by scores of 6-2, 6-3.
Rounding out the sweep for the Vixens was sophomore
Isabela Guilarte (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) who took down Sarah Cooper 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 5 slot.
