SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The Sweet Briar College IHSA team kicked off the 2023-24 season at the Harriet Howell Rogers Riding Center today, seeing two student-athletes qualify for Region 4 Finals.
 
Sophomore Audrey Flattich (Statesboro, Ga.) was named High Point Rider and earned a spot at Regionals after earning the victory in her Limit Flat class. The Georgia native also placed second in Limit Fences.
 
Also punching her ticket to the post season was fellow sophomore Lauren Satola (Fulton, Md.). Satola took second in Intermediate Flat to guarantee her spot here at Sweet Briar on Feb. 24.
 
Three Vixens captured second-place finishes in their respective competition classes. Sophomore Ainsley John Darling (Virginia Beach, Va.) competed in Introductory Flat while Emily Roberts (Goochland, Va.) saw action in Novice Flat. First-year Mackenzie Quatmann (Avondale, Pa.) secured second place in Pre-Novice in her IHSA debut.
 
Sophomore Evelyn Clark (Crofton, Md.) placed third in Limit Flat while senior Katelyn Jones (Richmond, Texas) and sophomore Davis Shiflett (Louisa, Va.) both secured third place in Limit Flat and Novice Flat, respectively.
 
In the Open Flat class, junior Ella Peterson (Ashland, Va.) took home fifth place. Rounding out the field for Sweet Briar was sophomore Rachel Chard (Avon, Conn.) who came fifth in Intermediate Flat and sixth in Intermediate Fences.
 
Highlights

• Both Flattich and Satola will head to Regionals for the first time in their careers.
• Jones also placed fourth in Limit Fences while Satola earned a fifth-place finish in Open Fences.

 
What's Next
The Vixens will head to Haverhill Farm for a show hosted by Richmond on Oct. 7.
