yASHLAND, Va. – The Sweet Briar College IHSA team was crowned Reserve Champion at Randolph-Macon as two more Vixens qualified for Region 4 Finals.
 
Sophomore Rachel Chard (Avon, Conn.) punched her ticket to the postseason after a fourth-place finish in the Intermediate Flat class. Senior Katelyn Jones (Richmond, Texas) also earned a spot at Regionals thanks to a fourth-place finish with hers coming in Limit Fences.
 
Earning victories in their respective classes for the Vixens were juniors Isabella Paul (Conyers, Ga.) and Marran Vansickle (Powhatan, Va.). Paul nabbed the victory in Novice Flat while Vansickle reigned atop the Intermediate Fences class.
 
Junior Katherine Atherton (Montpelier, Va.) placed second in Open Fences while Chard also saw a second-place finish in Intermediate Fences.
 
Sophomore Ainsley John Darling (Virginia Beach, Va.) came third in Intro Flat and sophomore Caitlin Uimari (Marquette, Mich.) secured third place in Novice Flat during the first show of her collegiate career.
 
Along with Chard and Jones, junior Ash Burnett (Smyrna, Del.), sophomore Sarah Pastula (Rockford, Mich.) and senior Sarah Southard (Culpeper, Va.) finished fourth in their event classes of Novice Flat, Limit Fences and Limit Flat, respectively.
 
Rounding out the field for Sweet Briar was junior Emily Roberts (Goochland, Va.) with a fifth-place finish in Limit Flat.
 
Highlights

• Jones and Vansickle also saw action in Limit Flat and Intermediate Flat and earned fifth and third-place finishes, respectively.
• Chard and Jones are now the fourth and fifth members of the team to qualify for Regionals following sophomore Audrey Flattich (Statesboro, Ga.), Roberts and sophomore Lauren Satola (Fulton, Md.).

The Vixens will be back in action tomorrow at Christopher Newport.
