SMITHFIELD, Va. – The Sweet Briar College IHSA team earned a third-place finish in their second-straight show today, hosted by Christopher Newport.
Three Vixens earned first-place finishes with sophomore
Sarah Pastula (Rockford, Mich.), senior
Sarah Southard (Culpeper, Va.) and junior
Marran Vansickle (Powhatan, Va.) all reigning atop their respective classes.
Pastula placed first in Limit Flat and Southard in Limit Flat while Vansickle earned the win in Intermediate Flat.
Three Vixens also saw second-place finishes as junior
Katherine Atherton (Montpelier, Va.) and sophomore
Maggie Booth (Marietta, Ga.) competed in Open Fences and sophomore
Emma Evans (Chesapeake, Va.) saw action in Pre-Novice.

Ash Burnett (Smyrna, Del.) placed third in Novice while sophomore
Audrey Flattich (Statesboro, Ga.) and junior
Isabella Paul (Conyers, Ga.) came third in Intermediate Flat and Novice, respectively.
Junior
Ella Peterson (Ashland, Va.) secured a fourth-place finish in Open Flat in her first competition of the weekend.
Fellow junior
McClain Suelthaus was fifth in her Open Flat class while sophomore
Cameron Fox (Williamsburg, Va.) also placed fifth in Introductory in her first collegiate show.
Highlights
- Burnett and Southard both qualified for Regionals with their performances in the Novice and Limit Flat classes to bring the total number of qualifiers to seven.
- Vansickle also earned a fourth-place finish in Intermediate Fences.
What's Next
The Vixens will next be in action in 2024 with shows at Mary Washington on Feb. 3 and 4.
