SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The Sweet Briar tennis team will kick off the spring season this week as the team travels to TCNJ on Feb. 17 and No. 29 Swarthmore on Feb. 18.
The Vixens are set to clash with the Lions at 4:30 p.m. while action against the Garnet will begin at 2:30 p.m.
While this will mark the first dual match of the season for Sweet Briar, the team previously reigned victorious in head-to-head matchups with Division II Chowan (6-0) and now No. 23 Christopher Newport (5-4) at the CNU Invite, Sept. 17-18.
Success also came through at the ITA Regional Championships with the doubles team of Caro/Simhambhatla going 3-0 in their bracket, junior Isabela Guilarte (Barquisimeto, Guatemala) advancing to the final of the Blue B bracket, Andrade/Patino and de Souza/Wandling advancing to the Round of 16 and senior Ruth de Souza (Marilia, Brazil) playing in the quarterfinals for the second-straight year.
