SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The Sweet Briar College lacrosse team will kick off the 2023 season this week with contests against Randolph (0-1, 0-0 ODAC) at home on Feb. 22 and at William Peace on Feb. 25.
Action on both days will start at 3 p.m.
The Vixens are seeing eight returners to the roster this season and will feature nine newcomers, including first-years
Sofia Martinez-Tomatis (Santa Barbara, Calif.) and
Victoria Schofield (Towson, Md.)
Key returners for Sweet Briar include juniors
Kat Navarro (Carlsbad, Calif.) and
Jamison Tarver (Kingwood, Texas) and sophomore
Valen Foster (Bushwood, Md.). Navarro saw 690 minutes in goal last season and recorded 99 saves while Jameson ranked 30th in the nation in caused turnovers per game with 2.50 and Foster tallied 20 goals and nine assists for 29 points.
What to Know
- The Vixens were one goal short of the WildCats in last year's matchup.
- Navarro, Tarver, Foster and sophomore Kaitlyn Burns (Moneta, Va.) all received conference honors from the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) last season.
What's Next
Sweet Briar will take on both Brevard and Muskingum at home next week on March 6 and March 9, respectively.
