SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The No. 2-seed Sweet Briar College NCEA team (7-2, 7-1 ECAC) will see action at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships tomorrow, taking on No. 3-seed Bridgewater College (3-6) tomorrow at 2 p.m.
Competing at the Lynchburg Equestrian Center in Rustburg, Va., the reigning ECAC Single Discipline South Regional Champions received an automatic bye into the semifinals.
The Vixens faced the Eagles in last year's semifinal round as well, winning by a score of 5-3.
The team last competed in the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) format against newcomers Berry, taking down the Vikings 4-3. First-year
Naomi Dachis (Franklin Lakes, N.J.) was named Most Outstanding Performer (MOP) in fences competition while sophomore
Ella Peterson (Ashland, Va.) took home the title in flat.
What to Know
- After taking down Bridgewater in the semifinals, Sweet Briar went on to defeat Sewanee 8-0 to earn the conference title.
- Junior Emmy Longest (Hanover, Va.) was named Elite Equestrian at last year's tournament as well as ECAC All-Tournament Fences Team while she and senior Kacie Freeburg (Orlando, Fla.) and sophomore Katherine Atherton (Montpelier, Va.) were named to the ECAC All-Tournament Flat Team.
What's Next
The winner of tomorrow's meet will go on to meet the winner of the No. 1 Lynchburg/No. 4 Sacred Heart or No. 5 Dartmouth meet.
