Box Score ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The Sweet Briar College lacrosse team (1-4, 0-0 CSAC) fell to the Warren Wilson College Owls (2-3) on the road today by a score of 16-11.
After the Owls notched the first goal of the game, the Vixens went on a five-goal scoring run with tallies from first-year
Victoria Schofield (Towson, Md.), sophomore
Valen Foster (Bushwood, Md.) and junior
Sarah Southard (Culpeper, Va.).
Two additional goals by Schofield, one woman up), would give Sweet Briar the 7-2 lead entering the second.
The team was held scoreless the in the second quarter, while the home team earned seven unanswered to take the 9-7 lead at the half.
Two more tallies from Schofield and another woman-up goal, this time by Foster, would help keep the team on par with Warren Wilson's scoring runs. With both teams totaling three goals, the score was 12-10 heading into the fourth quarter.
The Owls would pull away during the final minutes of play, tallying four more goals. The lone score by Schofield would bring the game to its 16-11 close.
